Jefferson Starship

Jefferson Starship is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1974 by former Jefferson Airplane members Paul Kantner (guitar/vocals) and Grace Slick (vocals). It evolved from Kantner’s solo project Blows Against the Empire and marked a shift toward a more accessible, mainstream rock sound while retaining psychedelic and progressive elements.

In short, Jefferson Starship served as the successful 1970s–early ’80s bridge between the counterculture-era Jefferson Airplane and the polished pop-rock of Starship.
